What is EEG?
Electroencephalography, or EEG, is a technique used to record electrical activity in the brain.
Is EEG painful or dangerous?
No, EEG is a safe, non-invasive way to measure brain activity and will not cause the participant any pain. EEG measurement involves wearing a soft, stretchy cap on your head with electrodes embedded in it which pick up electrical signals from your brain and record their activity.
What kind of sounds are used?
A variety of natural and computer-generated sounds at gamma frequency are used to elicit specific neural responses and cognitive reactions.
How is the privacy and confidentialty of the participants' data ensured?
If you choose to take part in the SoundMind project, your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018).
